Hanabi Handmade - Candle Safety Notice

Hi everyone,

At Hanabi Handmade, your safety and satisfaction are our top priority. We are voluntarily recalling all the candle products due to a potential issue with the wick and wick tab that may cause the candle to burn improperly. Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking customers to stop using the following candles immediately.

Recalled Product Details 

Product Name : Dried Flower Soy Wax Candle 5oz $29 [Scent : Lavender, Bohemian Rose and Honeysuckle Jasmine]

Units : 5

Issue : Wick may burn larger than intended and can ignite the dried flowers and gold flakes, posing a potential fire hazard. The wick tab might be defected, causing safety hazard.

Mini Soy Wax Container Candle 3oz $15 [Scent : Lavender, Bohemian Rose, Honeysuckle Jasmine, White Tea, Matcha and Bergamot, Sea Salt and Orchid, White Orris and Sandalwood, Harvest Moon, Cashmere Plum, Pumpkin Caramel Crunch and Salted Honey Butter]

Issue : Wick may burn larger than intended and cause the glass container to break, posing fire and laceration hazards. The wick tab might be defected, causing safety hazard.

Pillar Soy Wax Candle 5oz $29 [Scent : White Tea, Matcha and Bergamot, Sea Salt and Orchid, White Orris and Sandalwood, Harvest Moon, Cashmere Plum, Pumpkin Caramel Crunch and Salted Honey Butter]

Issue : Wick may burn larger than intended, posing a fire hazard.  The wick tab might be defected, causing safety hazard.

8/2 and 8/3 between 11:00-6:00pm - OK Marketplace, 22 Peace Plaza, San Francisco, CA 94115

9/13 between 12:00-6:00pm - Golden Makers Market, Japan Center Mall East 1st Floor

9/20 between 11:00-4:00pm - Saluhall Makers Market, 945 Market Street

9/21 between 11:00-4:00pm - Maum Market, 1 Ferry Building, San Francisco, CA 94105 

10/18 between 10:00-2:00pm - Luke’s Local Pop-up, 960 Cole St, San Francisco, CA 94117

What You Should Do

1.) Stop using the candle immediately.

2.) Do not light or burn the candle further.

3.) Contact us for a refund :

You may be asked to provide a photo of the product or proof of purchase to help us process your request quickly. Because we do not have contact info for some customers, you may also receive a refund automatically as we are hoping to notify you in any way possible. If you received a refund, please contact us. 

When creating Hanabi Handmade, the goal is always creating high quality handmade products so this issue is embarrassing and unacceptable. I apologize for ever letting this happen. I am taking this issue seriously and will take a step back on my future plans for candles to ensure quality and safety. I will also do everything I can to retrieve the candles sold.
